Look what Santa brought!!!

Postby Rick Spivey » Sun Dec 09, 2007 10:06 am

Well, Santa came a little early, yesterday.

He brought me a new toy! Look!

http://photos.cubfest.com/thumbnails.php?album=513

As some will notice, it is using only 5 of the original 7 spring teeth. If anyone knows where to get the other two teeth and clamps, I'm interested in putting it back to original.

Also, does anyone know where to find the leather "dust boots" (or mud boots?), or am I on my own? I do know a shoe repair guy who might could do something...

I'm thinking about painting it IH blue, even though this one was red to start with...

What was the primary purpose of these? It looks to me like a great tool for preparing a garden bed, but maybe not so much for tending between rows????As you can tell, I'm a farmer "wanna-be".

I don't know whose boot got caught in the wheel, but I don't think it happened at the factory.

The parts list doesn't mention a boot.

I have a manual for the Cub-3 Cultivator and it doesn't show a leather boot of any kind. I use mine to get the morning glories growing between the rows in my pumpkin patch. Works great!

Rick:

Congratulations :applause: on the nice early Christmas present :!: Very nice snag.

Colour :?: Again that is your choice. Both the IH Blue and Red are original, but depended on year and the Paint Committee Decisions which changed a lot.

However, seeing as both are correct, then the choice is totally up to you for originality. But, it is your implement so, paint it the colour of your choice. For me, if it became very clear that 2150 or IH-50 Red was the original colour, then I would restore it with IH-50/2150 Red.

the boot was probably added after somebody used it in tall weeds and they kept wrapping. the leather would have kept the weeds from getting caught and wrapping

The boot came from the last guy that fell off the tractor and didn't get out of the way fast enough. :help: :help:

As far as I know, all of these were red in the first place. If any were blue, it would have only been a few of the first ones with the smaller lift chains. This one appears to have the larger chains.

Well, we just had a surplus of the navy blue from the sickle mower, so we're trying to use it all up :-D Wish I could say that I found it ROn, but this one was all dad. He's on cloud nine as from what we understand he got a CRAZY good deal on it :D
