a start to many questions until spring

Postby smigelski » Mon Dec 10, 2007 9:17 pm

I am confused with some of the things these wonderful little tractors can do. first big question, I have always learned when plowing you 25hp per bottom on a moldboard, yet these tractors are not 25hp. How can they plow? Like I said I am totally new to them and very intrigued. I plan on useing the 130 for cultivating only but would like to learn as much as possible.

A cub is geared pretty low. It does not plow very fast, and the cub molboard plow is only 12 inches instead of the 14 or 16 that is the common size.

Matt,
The Cubs plow just fine.

Although it would have taken a few more days to do all 80 acres.
But we were game!

Just to add to that question, Just exactly how is a mouldboard measured?
What makes it a 12" or a 14" or whatever???
I have what I was told was a 2-14 pull type trip plow for my Super C but have no way of knowing for sure. The guy I got it from measured it on centers of the main beams but that is hard to do on a one bottom plow.

measure straight across from the heal of the plow share to the land slide. That is the width of the furrow it cuts. Another way to describe it is the widest part that is below ground level when plowing.
