I checked all my manuals and the operting manual says to just replace the oil in the filter cup every ten hours.
My question concerns the filter media (steel mesh) up inside the body of the air cleaner. Now I know that Farmall/IH probably didn't foresee these tractors being in service 50-60 years later, and I am sure that inside that air filter body there has to be a lot of grit and dirt. How does one clean the inside of this assembly? Put it in a part cleaner, soak it in kerosene, spray it out with high pressure air, how?
Or do you just leave it alone? LOL!

Re: Cub Air Cleaner
You can soak in kerosene for several days. Jiggle the cleaner up and down once or twice a day. Take a bottle brush to the center tube.
Parts cleaner is ok. Oil the filter material when finished cleaning. The filter element resembles a very course brillo pad.

I have an excuse. CRS.

I guess I shouldve stated that in my comment . I used Purple Power diluted with water. I have also used the cleaner in the K&N Filter charger kit from Advanced. Spray in and wash out. A little bit of the spray oil that comes with it works good on the wire mesh inside the housing but not too much though...
