cub backseat

Postby Ron Luebke » Wed Jan 09, 2008 8:47 pm

has anyone made or have plans or detailed pics of a seat to add on a cub for parade purposes. i was thinking of trying to come up with something to bolt to the draw bar and add a pan seat behind the operator. i think i've seen pics with a person riding like this but it wasn't a detailed pic.

Yeah, I remember that as well, Ron. I think it was at a recent Cub Fest but can't remember who it was. Pete

i have a couple extra pan seats  so maybe even two seats. i know someone has 2 seats on a carryall but i want them facing forward so they can see what the driver is seeing. spare parts laying around can be dangerous it causes me to say" hmmmm what if ????????"

Ron, with a little modification to the Kodiak Karry All, say a steel plate underneath and maybe a little wider, you could use a couple of swivel boat seats. These would swivel for the person to sit down on, and then swivel which ever way they wanted to be, forward or backwards. Just a thought, Pete

Just thinking, one of the benefits of backward-facing is legs and feet can't get tangled up in wheels and tires. Those ag lugs are a little grabby so make sure you have some thought on safety.

Here is a post from a couple months ago on this subject.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

It's not a real good shot but this is my brother-in-law's lo-boy with buddy seat. It is the seat off an old horse drawn implement (mower) and it bolted to the drawbar.

thats what i'm talking about Bigdog. can you get any better pics ? i thought that the passengers feet would rest on the drawbar. i bet with some water pipe insulation on the rear cultivator pick up bar it'd be a nice hand hold?

Ron,

I remember thinking when I first saw BD's picture, that it'd be great for adults, but may be unsafe for kids.

I've been kicking around an idea for a small trailer (4 wheels, with bed 48" X 60" or 72") with mounted seats inside...that way you've got 4 additional tires for stability, sufficient clearance from the rear wheels and from any risk of falling under the draw bar, and the ability to add (or take away) side rails to help keep the little guys inside.

Whatcha think?

Charles
there was a nice one at Redman's last year. might look in the pic's for Cubfest 2007.
Also was a disscusion on here about it and where to get one.
Or send Kodiak up to WP and I will send a full size running gear back with him that you could use. probably about 6 1/2 wide 10 long

Hi Eviel,

Thanks for the offer...that's a lot bigger that I was thinking though.

Ron L,

Found the perfect size (48"X72) on page 370 of the '07 TCS Blue Book, item #35-99561. Also a good looking frame with variable length from Northern Tool, item #125415-1803.

But first things first......finish the tranny this winter!
