Governor Lubrication??

Postby perk » Thu Jan 31, 2008 7:12 pm

In looking at the parts list below. Do you lubricate these parts in the governor? I have checked my manuals and cannot find anything on this.
It seems to me that item #26, 27, 28 etc should be lubed. What do you do you think about this?
Again, Thanks

I am pretty sure the oil in the engine gets slung around in there because it has an oil seal at the linkage and at the mag/dist. The oil rides up on the worm gear from the crank and idlers and makes its way around in there.

Podge hit it right on. Just had my governor out about three months ago, and it gets pretty well saturated with oil, so no extra lube is necessary!

Number 11 is the part you want to get some oil onto.

Jim's right on that, mine was stuck fast when I took mine apart and I don't know how it was ever working before.

Also lube the pivot, where the shaft passes through #5
