Uncle Mike,

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that a spring tooth harrow and a spring tooth field cultivator are two different implements. And as I remember from searching, the spring teeth are even different.

Biggest noticeable difference, I believe, is no wheels on the harrow???

I am not farmer enough to understand the subleties of difference in usage, or intended usage....they both probably break up the ground further than the plow.....

I have become quite convinced that one way IH and others insured profitable business was to introduce variations on implements, because once you have a certain one, you're not likely to need a direct replacement for a long time. So they have to convince you of the need for a different one. And with most of us tractor lovers, we are not hard to convince....Maybe different regions of the country truly needed different variations, but I'm not 100% convinced....

The item in question arived at Midnight on Friday. Three of us could get it out of a trailer mad from an ancient datsun pickup. Very nice condition and ready to get to work. As for it being called a harow, that is just what the PO called it in the advert, and it is definitly the Cultivator.

The Disc Harrow had been hit with a pickup, and the straps are bent, but I believe a little heat will allow me to get those to the correct shape. The bearings will need to be lubbed up, as it has been sitting for years.
