New Addition

Postby George Willer » Sun Mar 21, 2004 10:13 am

Cub Bud,

Here's the new addition that arrived yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised if it elbows itself to the front of the line.

Image

Most of the work will be on the front. Everything's there, but in need of a lot of blacksmith work. The emblems are all there and in good condition except for paint.

Image

Notice the lop-sided adjustment on the front axle??? So far, the only part I think it needs is a battery box... and maybe a wiring harness.

Purty one Grandpa! I missed one yesterday. There was an auction nearby with one. Didn't get to it, so I don't know if the cub went cheap or not. Just clean that one up good and add it to the inheritance list! :)

It was at an auction with about 1200 registered bidders. 1199 couldn't see the diamond in the rough. Nearby was another Cub in not as good basic condition, but with bright red paint... brought more than twice as much!

I was pleased to find the engine smooth, gears quiet, PTO working fine, brakes working, and a decent clutch.

It's a '58. #10499

Nice looking cub Mr. Willer.

Did you happen to get any equipment with it :?:

It's a little hard to tell, but the seat either backed into something, or it was hit by something. It's nicely turned to a straight, flat line in back. It'll be easy to fix. In any case, it's a standard 4 bolt seat on a different base.

I have a Cub with a deluxe seat. I'll check to see if the bases are alike.

I think Jim has one just like it.

The side pieces that support the seat are the same as the deluxe seat. The third part that connects between those two and the seat bolts to is specific to the Lo-Boy pan seat. It also uses the same tool box as the deluxe seat.

I have no idea what the mix was between pan seats and deluxe seats. One more thing about the pan seat on the Lo-Boy, there was no spring as on the Farmalls.

George,

Congrats on the new one.
Some guys have all the good fortune.

Some day, sooome day, I'll get me a nice little red '55 Loboy.

I'm still having a difficult time "getting time" to work on my '67, but I sure would like to work on that one of yours.
