Well now here is something interesting. He is advertising it as a '48 but look at the decals! The regular hood decal would be correct for a "circle cub" & it sure looks origonal but what about the "circle cub" decal on the hood????
This could toss a whole new wrench into the big debate.

Pretty obviously repainted. What's with the stick in the starter rod?

Jim:
Here's a guess: This Cub has the short lever on the starter button and the stick is for leverage.

I think you are probably right. It is a short lever, probably combined with a failing switch.

But I do like this idea. Wrap a rope a few times around the PTO shaft and give it a pull.

Artie, here is a pic of mine.
And here is what I know about it so far http://www.savethecub.com/dash.htm
And here is another thread on the subject Dash
A gentleman Podge met this week worked for McCormick in 1948 and recalls them using these for a very brief period and decided to go back to the long ear type until the short ear as we know came out.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Dave from my understanding, the hood decal on a Circle Cub would say McCormick-Deering Farmall. If that is true then the decal shown is not be the correct one for a Circle Cub. My guess is the owner placed that Circle decal on it. (Maybe around the time the stick was added to the starter rod)
