Last Sunday's minifest with Donny

Postby Bob McCarty » Wed Apr 30, 2008 9:56 pm

Donny finally took a day off and came up for a half day at my place north of Denver. It always amazes me how much I can learn in such a short time (and how much I have yet to learn). One of my Cubs sounded funny, sort of an offshoot of no muffler, hard to describe. We were both scratching our heads until Donny pulled off a plug wire and found they were carbon centers instead of solid. After replacing those, it sounded just like it should have. I should have recorded the funny growl it made. Learned some more about steering, and then spent some time just sitting and talking. Thanks Donny, come on over anytime!!

When I was working on the restoration of my Cub Donny was always available for help. He has a lot to share.
Good to hear he is taking a few hours away from work

Hey Bob,

Glad to hear you and Donny had a great mini-fest. You know that Donny knows all about things dielectric or near dielectric.

Did Donny tell you that relative static permittivity (or static relative permittivity) of carbon core plug wires under given conditions is a measure of the extent to which it concentrates electrostatic lines of flux. It is the ratio of the amount of stored electrical energy when a potential is applied, relative to the permittivity of a vacuum. The relative static permittivity is the same as the relative permittivity evaluated for a frequency of zero. The relative static permittivity is represented as εr or sometimes κ or K or Dk. It is defined as where εs is the static permittivity of the material, and ε0 is the electric constant. (The relative permittivity is the complex frequency-dependent , which gives the static relative permittivity for ω = 0.)

Now Mike......just how many times did you fall off the cub and land on your noggin while pulling that drag under those trees of yours :?: :?: :?:
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

Hope this will help, but I'm not that well versed in dielectrics. If you guys have any questions Russ or Donny can probably clarify.

How in the world did you figure out the password to my work computer?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Mike's gonna need this sign if he keeps it up - I wonder if a Cub can go 88mph?!
