You guys are lifesavers

Postby larryfoster » Fri May 02, 2008 10:37 am

I've said it before but need to say it again, you guys are great and the information is available here is invaluable.
Besides all the great info you've given me on my other questions, I had a dilemma and found the answer here.

Putting the head back on, one of the bolts snapped.
My wife is my parts chaser and lost the bolt somewhere on the way to the dealer. I didn't want to remove one of the ones already torqued
Since he is out of stock, I wanted to look at Tractor Supply but needed the size. None of my documentation showed the sizes

But you guys came through. A quick search told me just what I needed

Just wanted to say thanks, again.

You should replace ALL the head bolts. The rest are not much stronger than the one that broke and it's easier to do it now.

That's probably a good idea.
I think that's what I'll do.
Do you know how many short ones and how many long ones?
Should I put anything on the threads like never seize or something?

Yes you need to put something on the threads, like Neverseize. Some are in the coolant, below where they thread into the block. So you'll ant those to come back out in one piece someday. Someone else will know how many of each length, or you might search. I'm certain I've read that in here before.

Larry, you will need 6 long bolts and 9 short ones. the long ones are cheaper than the short ones for some reason. But over all you are looking at about $72.00 total at TM. They will take care of you. Good people to deal with.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
