headlights

Hi I have the loader cub about 80% back together. runs like new very smooth it ran so bad before the rebuild i can't tell how much the balanced crank helped. anyway I never had the lights on it before. I wanted a bit better than the tarnished reflectors and bulbs . I thought about sealed beams but they are too small for my teardrop housings, I looked at the new reflectors but the rebuild has dented my budget. woke up in the middle of the night with a brainstorm (grindingnoises from inside my head almost woke the wife), anyway i went to the local scrapyard. (where I fix the phones an computers) and scrounged a couple halogen driving lights. i ground out the old socket and enlarged the hole, then i soldered the socket from the halogen into it with the little cup sheild. it clears the lens, now i need to put an order in for some seals. I painted the reflector with crome paint. I cant wait to see if they are bright enough.
