Need belly mower blades & belt

Postby DaveR » Sun Mar 29, 2009 4:54 pm

I took a blade off my C-3 (I think thats the model) belly mower and the belt and went to Tractor supply company to get a replacement. Nothing close in the store.

The Blade itself is 14 1/2 inches long with 1 1/2 inch bolt hole. I looked in Northern Tool and a couple other catalogs and found nothing.

Also, how do you measure the belt, by going around the outside of it with a steel tape?

Any help suggestions, muct appreciated. Surely someone has run into this same thing.

Dave, You might want to check with a Case/IH dealer. A couple of years ago I got replacement blades for my C-2 from our local dealer. Can't help you on the belt length, but I'm sure someone with have a length or belt #.

I'm wrong its the C-2 model with the single pulley mounted in the center that drives the blades. I can use my blades with no problem, but I thought i would get a set if I could find them.

Its the belt thats worn out. The C-2 manual online does not mention parts by number or belt length, etc.

How do you measure a belt, completely around the outside.??

Thanks
Dave

The belt length is measured around the outside of the belt.

The belt width is measured on the top side (the widest part)

I have no idea what size belt fits your mower but I believe belts can be measured several ways. The fractional horsepower , "L" series, are measured on the outside. The standard duty belts, "letter series", are measured on the inside. I recently had a 34" 4L that I had used to size an application and then converted to the required "A" belt. The 34" L series was a 32" "A" series. I assume you want a "B" series belt. If no one comes up with the correct size then you can measure the outside diameter of the belt you think would fit then go to the mcmaster carr website and convert to the correct "B" belt.
Easier if someone justs posts the correct size!

Thanks for the help guys on how to measure a belt, etc.

I went to my neighborhood Oreilly auto parts store. They were sure I was talking about a "B" belt, I measured mine and its 138 inches around it. I had them get me a 138 inch one by 1/2 inch, be here tomorrow. The price was $29.95, I assume a Gates Belt.

We'll see how it works out. The length can be adjusted and made up for with the mounting bolts under the drawbar. I suspect there is an inch or two adjustment there.

i have a woods 42 and the belt is a b133, tsc has them but you have to look at the king kutter belts, not the lawn mower belts. it is 5/8" belt by 133" it was like $30.

If you measured on the outside 138" and ordered a B138 then it is going to be 3" too long.

When we get the correct size nailed down I will insert a sticky note in my PDF manuals with the correct information. I think that will be my next project. I'll use one parts book revision as a benchmark and insert sticky notes with cross reference information on the appropriate pages. Not anytime soon though.

My Bushhog brand uses a b140. Not that it helps in this discussion. Put it out for prosperity. Someone else might use it someday.

Mine is a too far away to look at, but I got a new one from the NAPA dealer. They can cross it using the IH part number. It was less than $30 a few years ago.

I have a C-2 mower and the manual shows 1176.26 as the belt number, 151" long. Cannot find one anywhere yet.
