The 12 15 b is a casting date code....December 15, 1956 but that does not match up with your serial number, also a casting code would have a
capital B not a lower case b. Most Cubs also have a L in the casting which stands for Louisville. What is nice about IH tractors is most have casting code dates that will be within 6 months of the manufacture date of the complete tractor. I always remember the cating letter code corresponding date by the sought after Z cast parts for the 1954 Super Hs and Super Ms.
1954 Z
1955 A
1956 B
1953 Y ETC....
This is a good way to check if a tractor has had a lot of parts changed from original.
Good Luck with your Cub.

30 + tractors including 2 French Super Cubs, French Cubs, 1963 Industrial Cub, 1955 Cub Highcrop etc...German and French built IH tractors and some bigger IH tractors. Of course I have about 20 IH trucks and an IH refridge in the Shop.
