Great forum!! I've got a 53 cub that was purring like a kitten till last week. I've got some electrical issues but they can wait. The engine barely turns over even with a 12v jump. I've tesed resistance on the battery leads, new charged 6v and had the starter tested at a reputable shop. Everything checks out. Bench tested the starter switch with a 12v jump, OK. Installed the starter and connected the 6v, NOTA! Conneceted the 12v to the battery leads and she barely turns over. Reconnected the 12v with jumpers, same deal, I'll get a bit of a turn then she bogs down to nothing.
Anyone have any ideas!!!

I replied to your post on ATIS. Even though the battery cable appear OK, there may still be some resistance which will increase as the connection heats up. Bypass your cables with jumper cables to see if that helps. If not, then remove and check the starter switch. As I stated on ATIS, remove and clean both ends of both battery cables and pay particular attention to the grounds.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
