20 YEARS TODAY

I hate to say that I had forgotten until this morning, but it was mentioned on the Red Power Magazine forum that it was 20 years ago today that IH announced the sale of the ag. equipment line to Tenneco, to become caseIH. Hard to believe it has been that long, I was only 11 years old at the time.

May we never forget.....

I was just a young lad of 19 when all of that took place. I remember it well. I happened to be selling parts at our local Deere dealer at the time. The sell to Tenneco was big news in our parts....we had a IH dealer and a Case dealer. The merger meant one of them was going to close.

The town where our local IH dealer was , was also home to our local AC dealer and our local Case dealer. The AC dealer closed and is now a showroom for swimming pools and kids swing sets. The IH dealer is now a luggage showroom, this is also by the way where my 52 cub came from, only the Case dealer survived and they sell more Kubotas than Case's, My 52 Case industrial S came from there as well although it was an agricultural dealer back then not construction equipment.
