That probably isn't even a Cub crank... it does look like a forging. The Ford cranks were forged. I've forgotten which is which, but either the Ford or the Cub crank will work on either but the other won't. It has to do with how far back the cross pin is located.

The end of the crank should be squared off, not tapered but the tapered end will not keep it from functioning. You are probably correct, it is likely not a cub crank but possibly has been modified to work on a cub.

Hand Crank Discussion
Went out to the shop and double checked the hand crank on the 49 Cub.
The hand crank has an extension welded to the original crank. The extension is round stock .620" diameter. Cross pin, round stock, is .270" diameter. The cross pin located, center of pin, .950" from the end. The end has a slight bevel where it fits into the pulley. The cross pin is a press fit.
