bought what i think is a woods 59" mower
is this a woods deck? i paid $120 it is in good condition, no holes no rot but surface rust; nothing that a little sandblasting wont fix. what do i need to make this fit my standard cub? at the time of purchase i thought it was a good deal with not too much to loose, $120 bucks really is not much money. it is a complete unit and it looks exactly like the picture, except someone painted it red

It's not a complete unit as pictured. Needs a mule drive to mount on the cub. I can't help with mower brand

Re: bought what i think is a woods 59" mower
I would imagine it will fit your Cub provided you get the mule drive and the proper mounting brackets. Don't forget the pulley as well for the PTO. I don't believe that you have a Woods mower. Would suggest you spend a little time looking at the Woods Mower Manuals on the server for comparison purposes, but I have a feeling that you may not have a Woods at all but an IH Danco C-3 Rotary Mower
Look at the straight rails, the front casters and the deck itself.

The C-3 is a good deck and for the price you paid a good deal. Only thing of concern is finding the brackets, mule drive and pulley. That might be expensive .. maybe as much as what you paid for the mower deck itself. is a good source to search -- you can find elusive stuff like the Belt Guard for the C series
Farmall Cub / International Cub Belly Mower PTO Belt Guard
I did a quick search for the C-3 on eBay, some items but no mule drive popped up att. The C-3 was designed by Danco, approved by IH for the Cub and manufactured for IH by Danco, so it is a pretty good mower from what I have heard from other members over the years. It is a big deck and will need a well tuned Cub to run it.
Again, and I cannot emphasize this enough, spend a little time reading the manuals. It will explain an awful lot to you. Once you confirm that this is indeed a C-3, print of the manual and when you go look at parts you have something to compare to so you get all the parts that you need.

That is a C3 mower, 2 different mule drives, fast hitch is different setup than a non fast hitch cub

Ditto to what Rudi said, that is definitely not a Woods brand mower, looks to be an IH Danco as discussed, but after looking at your picture, if this is in fact for a Cub, look closely at the picture in Rudi's manual and at this picture also....The straight portion of the mower deck should be on the caster side, your deck has the casters on the angled side.

Re: bought what i think is a woods 59" mower
so im guessing that mule drive is the same for the loboy and standard cub and that the only thing that matters is fast hitch or non fast hitch

Re: bought what i think is a woods 59" mower
Nooooo... I don't think that is what Tim was saying. He said two different mule drives - 1 for a fast hitch cub and one for a standard cub. Pretty sure. I have a C-2 with both the Cub and the Cub Lo-Boy mule drives. They are different and they do not work with a fast hitch.
Also, I think the PO assembled the mower deck backwards... Brian is correct .. the casters are on the wrong face.
We have a few members who have a C-3 and with luck they will pop in with their observations.

Re: bought what i think is a woods 59" mower
the picture is simply one that i found on the internet and is not a picture of MY new deck only one that looked like my deck. my deck is on the back of a trailer that is temporarily stranded at the auction site with a flat tire, yeah it was a fun day. should have to mower in my garage soon, lol.

Along with the mule drive, you will also need a properly sized pulley to mount on your PTO shaft.

Re: bought what i think is a woods 59" mower
If the picture is the same mower, then it is a C-3. It is easier to make it fit a Cub than the Woods mower, couple of drop downs from the finals (flat metal with holes), a mule drive and PTO pulley is pretty much all you need. Of course the belts. In a pinch I think a Woods mule drive would work. I think the mule drive for a C-2 and C-3 are the same, but best to check the parts list first.

Re: bought what i think is a woods 59" mower
That is what I was thinking Larry. From past discussions the mule drive for a C-2 and C-3 are interchangeable. Since he doesn't have a fast hitch, not much to worry about. Pretty simple to make the brackets. I think I have pics with measurements of the mule drive and bracket assemblies. Should look for that.
I did not realize that this was not the pic of his mower. I sure hope his mower looks like this one. Either way we will find out when he posts pics of his mower when it arrives home.
