Fast Hitch Pull Bar Support Bar
I noticed today that my Cub fast hitch needs a little attention. This is my first Cub, which I bought last month and I am slowly correcting one thing then another. I noticed that the knuckles on each end of the pull bar support assembly are upside down. The grease zerks pointing down instead of up. I also noticed that a small bolt had been inserted through the holes in the pull bar assembly and the support bar in order to hold the pull bar assembly in place. When I removed this bolt and tried a 1/4' pin, I found that I could not line the holes up. The support bar looks like it should turn inside the knuckles at each end, but it will not budge. Since it has zerks on each knuckle, I went ahead a greased them. Both ends take grease, but the bar itself appears to be frozen in the knuckles. Am I correct in thinking the bar should turn inside the knuckles? I am thinking that if it will not turn that this places stress on things, especially the pin that holds the pull bar assembly in place on the support bar. The small bolt that was previously in this position allowed much more play than a well fitting pin will allow.

Turn each knuckle independently by unhooking one at a time and turning it. That should work. If not, get a large wrench (pipe) and put more pressure on it, in both directions.

Thanks Bill, I got them both loose and turned upright. One knuckle took quite a lot of persuading before it would move. They take grease a lot better now.

Re: Fast Hitch Pull Bar Support Bar
Does the support bar turn inside the tube on the pull bar assembly? I have one that seems to be rusted solid within the tube. Someday I'll remove things and try to free it up on a hydraulic press.

Re: Fast Hitch Pull Bar Support Bar
Denny, the support bar does turn inside the tube on the pull bar assembly. The support bar and tube have holes so that the pull bar can be moved laterally and pinned to hold it at a location. The pull bar assembly on my Cub slides easily on the support bar.

Sounds like you're good to go. I just have the one that is rusted up (frozen) and the other two are good.
