Re: ! Rubber Gas Line? 64 Cub
It's plain old rubber gas line. Available at any auto parts place.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Brendan,
I think Napa can make the ones with the fittings on the ends. I assume that is what you are talking about?

Brendan:
First, rubber is NOT a recommended replacement for the original:
If you bent the original, well it is pretty simple to make a new one. See this thread: How To Upgrade A Cub Fuel System or if you are not comfortable making a new one - then suggest you get one from TM Tractor - fuel line vertical exhaust, or fuel line underslung exhaust - fittings are included.
If you want to go to rubber which I strongly do not recommend then take your twisted gas line with you and make sure you get the correct 1/2-20 fitting with an adapter for a barbed fitting. Personally it cost more to do it that way than it does to order the line from TM. Place the order on Tuesday and you should have it the next day.....

Re: ! Rubber Gas Line? 64 Cub
Well first i dont care if its original or not! i just want a thin rubber line close to the steel line just so its easier to put the hood on an off That's all im wanting. an the reason is i tryed putting it on with the hood on an did not have any room to work that wrench to tighten the fittings! i was so pissed i wanted to beat it to death with a hammer! but i took out all ma anger an got the lift arm broke lose! Three bolts! ... but anyway all im looking for it a Rubber line same size as the one already on it that will not leak! An im at the point where im wanting to trade it for what ever! Super A 100 or another Cub 1958-1963. Anyway Thanks!Rudi wrote:Brendan:Brendan In NC wrote:Im looking for a Rubber! Gas Line for my 64 Cub after i Bent the Crap outta the Original!

Brendan:
If you want a rubber line, then get one. I would think that the best place to get it is at NAPA or Autozone, PEP Boys or O'Reilly's whatever auto parts store you have near you.
Can't stress that enough.
Make sure though that you DO NOT put a 3/8"NPT hose barb fitting into the carb because it will destroy the threads. If you want to use the hose barb you will have to get an adapter/union from 1/2"-20NF male to a 3/8" NPT female or a 1/2"-20NF to a 3/8" NPT Male and adding an appropriate 3/8" NPT female with barb. The most common barb fitting for a 1/2" rubber hose is a 3/8" NPT male barb. You will need a pair of them - one for the carb and one for the fuel sediment bowl. It gets complicated. It may or may not make you happy. Just remember to keep the hose away from heat sources - use wire clips if you need to.
I don't want to start a huge brouhaha over this, but to take the hood off with a steel gas line is no more difficult than with a rubber line. Simple unscrew the fittings - on both the carb and the fuel sediment bowl if need be. It just requires a 9/16" open end wrench IIRC. I have gone from rubber to steel and mostly because of safety plus the damage that rubber lines do to the fuel circuit -- as in the need to go to NPT barb fittings. Just messes up the pot metal real easy.

Re: ! Rubber Gas Line? 64 Cub
$5.00 answer. Cut off the old fuel line about 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the fittings. Remove burs with file and straighten out any major deformations. Take old metal fuel line into any auto parts store. Order 3 feet of "rubber" fuel line to fit the old metal fuel line and 2 hose clamps.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Ditto to Eugene's solution. That's how mine are done. Get good clamps. The cheapo ones won't tighten

Re: ! Rubber Gas Line? 64 Cub
Both my 48 and 49 are done with neoprene lines. I prefer the isolation this gives between the tank/hood and carb.. Also when you remove the hood you aren't working the threads on the carb just removing hose clamps. Just my take on it.
