I've gotten the seat platform deck all blasted and clean. In the area where the seat attaches and under the battery box, the decking looks more like the surface of the moon. I'm wondering if any of you have filled those craters and if Yes with what?
Structurally it's still very rigid and strong, this is more of an aesthetics thing for me.

Re: Deck Cratering
I noticed on Tinkertoy's Cub he had what looked like some large rubber skid tape on his platform. That might cover up most of them.

Skim coat with USC Icing or a similar 2 part glazing filler. Glazing filler is similar to Bondo, in that you mix in hardener, but is a much thinner consistency, making it work much better for filling heavy pits in sheet metal.

I just put a heavy coat of Bondo on the platform I'm working on. Huge craters.

Re: Deck Cratering
The down side of filling the craters with any type of filler is as the paint wears off, which it will if the tractor is used a lot, you will see the filler material as well as the parent metal underneath the paint. That might look a little tacky however,if that doesn't bother you or you won't be using the tractor much don't worry about it and fill them craters.

If the pitting is under the battery box and under the seat mount no one will ever see it anyway...

Re: Deck Cratering
I used on the top surface a rollon truck bed liner material that I had left over from using on my Chevy S10. I used the Rustoleum underbody spray on the bottom.
I let them both dry and sprayed with paint I purchased from my Case dealer. I pleased with the current results. Not sure how it will hold up as I start to use the tractor.

Re: Deck Cratering
I would use some red oxide laquer primer,Put on heavy then block sand off with 180 or 220 grit and reprime and resand may take a few times.
Thaought of this while I was priming my Wifes 51 Ford pickup this morning. Just a thought

I know, but I'll know I left it there. It will be a catch-all for particulate. Since, I'm taking the time to paint the inside of the headlight trim rings black like the original, I can't seem to bring myself to leave this semi-visible part alone.
