fast hitch flail mower
I have two questions, how do you get the pulley off the cutter bar and does anyone have the bearing numbers for the ends of the cutter bar? can I get the bearings from napa or do I have to get factory?

Bob Phillips (spaceghost) should have that info. He's on his way home from RPRU, so give him a day or two.

Re: fast hitch flail mower
I do not have the bearing numbers, but one of these larger slide hammers work good for removing the pulley. They come with a 3 jaw puller that will grip it between the spokes.

The last I knew, Autozone had these that they they loaned out for a deposit.

Cutter bar bearings are available at auto parts store. The bearings are probably not in stock but can be ordered and usually delivered in a day or two.
I gave the clerk the numbers off of the removed bearing.

Details are sketchy, but I replaced mine with sealed bearings. Seem to recall the originals were tough to find and expensive. You have the hard part done.

Buzzard wing, do you have the bearing numbers you used?
I also looked at the manual and there is a pulley spacer and grease retainer that I am missing, any ideas on those? in the fast hitch parts manual on the cutter bar page, they are numbers 8 and 9 on the pulley side.
one of the bearings was fafnir 206KKR2, the other had no number

8506, Federal-Mogul is the number for the bearing I have written down in my Mott parts list. You need to double check.
Bearing cage w/zerk and bearing shield washer, Part numbers 8 and 9, should still be on the mower cover since you just pulled the pulley.

The pulley side bearing is the one I have the number on, and it looks like what was left of the grease retainer is still there but it looks like a "C" now and not a washer. The bearing cage is good.

Re: fast hitch flail mower
I have not replaced any bearings on mine. The grease fittings don't really get the grease into the bearings, best to do it the old fashioned way . Sounds like that mower of yours is in tough shape, good luck getting it all back together and set up nice. They are well worth the effort, one of my favorite Cub tools.
You probably know about http://www.flailmaster.com/index.html They are very good for parts.

Re: fast hitch flail mower
I would have to dig to find the part numbers, guess I didn't note the number where I could find it again.
Not sure if it matters, but there are two different bearing holders. The early ones are enclosed and the later ones open. The open one is what I replaced. I rotated the bearing holder so the grease fitting was 90 degrees off so I wouldn't grease it. With the OD (bearing holder) and ID (cutter shaft) dimensions a good bearing supplier would be able to find it for you.
Try calling Flailmaster or Montage and tell them you want a sealed bearing for the cuttershaft (Mott model D9 or FHC) and see if they have it.

Re: fast hitch flail mower
Ok here is my two cents, you got a good mix of repays here is what i do to remove a pully.
I took a piece of plate steel 9" x 9" and cut our a middle channel to go behind the pulley. Than I cut some angels at the bottom of the plate so that the pullers jaws could grab the steel plate
Than I drop the plate behind the pulley and late the puller do its job. Do not put the pulley puller jaws on the pulley it self, that will break the pulley
The bearing number for National is 206-FF
I have the Mott number for the bearing somewhere I will try to find it.

Be sure you install with the spacer, you will have vibrating issues if you don't put that cutter axle back to gather the correct way. I have a extra spacer that you can use to copy.
