Throttle question

Postby grinnergetter » Wed Jun 01, 2005 9:34 pm

I was playing with my cub tonight and got to wondering.... Should the lever which controls the throttle raise and lower rpm throughout the entire range...and if not duh what do i do? after reading through the book it may involve adjusting the governor carb etc.
I thought a complete tune up would be in order. God only knows who has done what. Any ideas.
And by the way DO NOT break any pulleys on a C-3 mower  They are really really expensive.

If you are talking about the hand throttle lever on the steering column my experience is that the re are extre stops below idle and above full throttle.

theoretically - yes, but the response is not usually the same throughout the entire range of travel. As long as you're getting a reasonable range of rpms I wouldn't worry about it

My "Carol Elizabeth Cub" will idle all the way down to the bottom notch (and purr like a kitten) 8) , BUT on high range she only goes up to 3 notches below the top notch  . I agree with BigDog...the most important part is that you're getting a FULL RANGE of R.P.M's from idle to full throttle. If you adjust your carb. on FULL THROTTLE till it runs smooth...and do the same at IDLE range you've probably got the FULL RANGE, providing that your govenor is adjusted properly  .
