And look what it contained. A set of custom made coasters compliments of IKE and his CNC students. Appear to be made for a granite type material. Thanks Ike and students. Now if I can just keep my wife from stealing them!

They appear to be made of Corian. It is a composite used for counter tops.

Very nice..
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape.

John:

Nice :!: Very Nice :!: :D

Ike and his students did a very nice job. Those are definitely keepsakes. I think it is probably Corian or another trademark compostite product. Corian can look like granite and marble. That is the beauty of cultured tops.. old world look, new world performance at a reasonable cost.

Wonder if he would make some for me, and the rest of us, to buy :?:

Yes, the material is Corian. A countertop manufacturer in Wichita lets the school have their scrap.

As for making them to sell, the school district is kind of funny about teachers using school equipment for personal income. If I had my own equipment, I would do it. :)

Nice work Ike. I have friends that have cnc lathes and mills. Another one has a big cnc plasma cutter. They are fun to watch. When I was a young man I worked in some modern machine shops. A few of them had NC machines but cnc hadn't been invented yet.

I wanted to add that these were made for John in appreciation of his helpfulness. He was VERY helpful in making arrangements for shipping some implements to me when I was unable to get to Missouri to pick them up. I know others of you have been on the receiving end of his helpfulness as well.

Thanks John. :D
