Grader Blade

Postby Patbretagne » Fri Jun 10, 2005 12:48 am

Hi
I've run across this on Ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1
which is just what I'm looking for, however although the seller says "shipping worldwide", he is not interested in crating and shipping to France.

IF noone over in USA is interested for themselves, is there anyone who would collect (I don't even know where germantown is) Crate and ship to France for me???

PS moderator, I hope i'm in the right board here?

Thanks for your help (don't feel obliged at all) if there is a Cub owner over there who wants it I'm out.
Pat

Pat: the the cost of shipping would drive the price of the plow sky high
would it not?
Take a little time to play, you don't grow old as fast that way.

Pat, I don't want to be a wet blanket, but as was stated, the shippping would be staggering. A locla dealer recently shipped one form just south of St. Louis to Canada and it was over $400. Might give Rod Rippee <rip@charterinternet.com> an email, I know they have some blades and ship worldwide, as well as http://WWW.jptractorsalvage.com another palce to check is http://www.tmtractor.com. Most of them will sell you a blade comparable to or lower than Ebay prices, and have discount arrangements for shipping. There is another place in Canada, that can probalby help you, but I have lost his email address.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

John:

That would be David over at Chown Tractor Parts. I am not sure if they have a blade at the moment.

However, There are a few people always coming north, some with Pick-ups, some with tractor trailers and I imagine one might be able to arrange shipping.

Pat, it is worth looking at.

Give you an example. If you know someone in Europe say on the continent or even the British Isles, that is shipping stuff in a container from either Halifax or New York, and the container is not full. You might be able to get it shipped for a reasonable price. However, the arrangements might be a bit complicated.

Other option is to ship in pieces, bits at a time. Might take longer but might be a little less expensive. The only problem would be the blade itself.

However, as I am thinking on this, the crate need only be approximately 24 x 24 x 65 roughly. All the parts broken down will fit inside that size crate. The weight of the blade and parts is probably in the 150 to 200 lb area, add another 50 - 60 pounds for the crate and you are up to probably a max of 260 lbs. Weight itself really would not be much of an issue, but the crate size would be.

If these blades are say nearly impossible to find in Europe, then in my humble opinion (IMHO), it would probably be worth it. The use alone that you would get would make it viable. The conversation factor at county shows would be priceless :!:  :D

Pat, I sent you a pm. We have container ships going outta Baltimore all the time. If the blade was disassembled, then the box would be smaller.

Hey, thanks guys, I think i'll give this Ebay blade a miss and spend a bit of time getting things organised and not pushed up into a corner. I do realiser that for a blade it will turn out relatively dear, but for the best little tractor ever produced?????does one stint??????

Have you heard of hens teeth?, Well a blade for Cub is as rare as them!

Rudi and John, Thanks for the leads I will get into them early next week to see what is available.

Carm, your advice sounds just what I wanted to hear, I'll be in touch very soon.

Just as all the guys say, "Just the best site on the internet" Just the best friends one could have" It's all true, thanks.
Pat
