That worked fine. Bolster removed and starting to clean it up. 62 years of accumulated grease and dirt.

I can't seem to get the two halves of the tractor back together. When I put it together before, it slid right in. Is there some trick that I'm missing? I tried to line my splines up and bringing it in at the same angle.

Put the pto in gear and use it to turn shaft to line up splines. works better if you have a pulley on it. Are you sure the friction plate is centered?

Frequently works better with two individuals when recoupling the Cub. One to turn the engaged PTO and one to wiggle/jiggle the engine or torque tube.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their help. Turning the PTO let the two halves go right together. Clutch seems to be adjusted just right. Thanks.

Flushed out the transmission with Diesel.....lots of water in it. 80-90 weight gear oil to go back into it. How much, 3 1/2 pints?

While I'm waiting on my new bolster to come in, I'll start to scrape off 62 years of gunk and start painting the front end. Is it best to tape up the distributor or take it off to paint?

Next is to reinstall the freshly painted final drives, back wheels and all the small parts. I'm just worried that when this project is over, I won't have anything to do.

Doesn't work that way. Been retired 8 years and my to do list keeps getting longer.

:Dito: When I retired I was about 3 years behind on things I wanted to do. After being retired for 10 years I am 8 years behind.

Dito: I put off things today that I could do, perhaps, tomorrow. Why rush?

Besides that, when I die, my kids will probably put the things I think important and valuable in the dumpster.

Edit: Wife has big plans for my valuable stuff. Yard sale.
