I've been gone for a while...

Postby Ben B » Sat Jan 18, 2014 7:58 pm

Howdy everyone! I've been gone for a while, but I've had some other battles in life to fight for a while.

Now, I'm back again, and getting ready to get the '50 Cub fired up for the coming years work. I've got gardens to plow up and work, and mowing to do, and the Cub is needed for all those things.

Also, I've always wanted to go to a cubfest, but still haven't made it yet. It's looking good for me to possibly make it to Boss' cubfest this year. I'm free that weekend, and my oldest son will be turn 15 that weekend. He's asked to go to the cubfest for his birthday. I guess that means I should REALLY try to make it this year, huh???

Ever since I mentioned this to my son, all this youngin wants to talk about is my cub. He's even offered to buy it off of me! Of course, he ain't got nothing to buy it with.

It would be nice to finally get to a fest. Also, he was making excuses about how my cub has some problems, and it needs work, and it runs so rich that the exhaust burns your eyes, etc. And yes, all this is true, and it would be nice to spruce it up a bit. But really, he's just trying to prod his ol' Dad into taking him to the cub fest! :D

Here's a photo of him on it right after I painted it three years ago. It don't look quite this good anymore, and he's as tall as me now. I don't remember why he was toting that ol' BB pistol. I guess he was just wanting to be country-fied. It comes natural to him!

You can help the exhaust problem by getting a muffler with a longer exhaust pipe that one is pretty short. Glad you are back, and it is good that your son is interested in the cub. My kids never had any interest in the old machinery.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Welcome back ! I am aiming to make Boss' get together too. I ride horses in the Mt Rogers area about once a year. Looks like that is just below you ?

Yes, Mt. Rogers is close by, and I try to make it to that area now and then to hike on old abandoned logging railroad grades. We are also going to try to make it to Boss' this year. The last couple of years we never had a chance to.
