Price Check Needed On A Few Items
I need a price check on a couple of items:
1) A complete, good condition, but unrestored set of the C-254-A cultivator (like this one but unrestored: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... ivator.jpg)
2) Complete disc plow setup in good unrestored condition -- I believe a C152, but I need to spend time identifying it
3) Cub engine that turns over, but is not rebuilt -- condition is unknown beyond that
4) Front axle with steering tie rods and hubs -- I can't remember if it includes the steering housing so maybe give me a price with and without
Thanks all!

If you use ebay as a gage,(you shouldn't) your prices are low. Some of their prices are ridicules. Your best bet is hope a forum member can fix you up at a fair price.

Re: Price Check Needed On A Few Items
OK I appreciate it. I am going to buy the front axle for sure at $150, because mine is all welded up and the rod up front is not nice and straight. I will pass on everything else for now until I can get some more feedback.

Re: Price Check Needed On A Few Items
I don't know, my answer to first two questions. Condition and location. Post in "The Vine", for sale/wanted section of this site. Know for sure, several individuals who buy and sell Cub implements.
Second two questions - scrap metal price. You have to consider your transportation expenses - and then might wind up with junk. Again, "The Vine", for sale/wanted section of this site. Some folks on this site buy, sell, salvage, Cub parts and implements have been doing so for years and know their stuff. I have found the prices and description to be accurate and fair.
If you need tractor parts and implements - consider purchasing a "parts tractor". $400- or $500- might sound like a lot of money for one item. But consider that there should be a lot of salvageable, usable, sellable parts.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Where do you guys find parts cubs in the $400 to $500 range? I have never seen such an animal in this neck of the woods, but the only place I know to look is on Craigslist.

Re: Price Check Needed On A Few Items
I hate to give prices on a pig in the poke but this will be the high side as far as I am concerned , If you have to ask for price help, ask someone that is near you. Location is just as important as condition.

Re: Price Check Needed On A Few Items
Thanks guys, I guess I didn't consider how much location can matter.
The disc plow is a complete C152 (I checked it out and compared to the photos). The guy that has it says he's never seen another one except at shows in the 30+ years he's been dinking with Cubs and believes them to be pretty hard to find. Even if true that doesn't necessarily make it collectible, I reckon.
What do you guys think about the C152 in particular as far as usefulness goes and then as far as collectibility/desirability?

Re: Price Check Needed On A Few Items
The 152 is a pretty common implement, so I'd say there is no real collector value. What's the diameter of the disc? You say it is complete so I assume it does have the lift chain clevis? That can be somewhat hard to find.
I have a 152 and love it. To use it, you do need to move right front axle out three holes. That can be very difficult the first time. When you get it extended, clean it up and generously apply anti seize.

Re: Price Check Needed On A Few Items
Ah, by complete I guess I meant functionally complete. All the major parts are there including a chain, but I can't say I looked at or even knew about a chain clevis. I also can't say that the chain is original, for example, because I am just not smart enough to know that stuff.
If I pick it up I know who to ask questions though!
I did pick up the front axle with hubs and bottom steering housing thingy.

Re: Price Check Needed On A Few Items
The lift clevis is not a necessity. Just nice to have. You can use a small regular clevis to lift it.

Re: Price Check Needed On A Few Items
Got my parts from Hamilton bobs. Pistons, rings, rod and main bearings, complete gasket set. They were the cheapest I found. Here's a link to there website. http://www.hamiltonbobscubs.com
Should be able to order a rebuild kit for your carb, clean it up real good and put the kit in it, it's pretty simply but be sure you check all the mating surfaces for warpage, if you want to have it done there is a guy n Michigan who rebuilds ppthem, straighten any warpage, and cleans them up really good, He does great work. If you want his contact info, PM me and I will get it for you

Re: Price Check Needed On A Few Items
Wulp, I scooped up the disc plow today! My first manly implement. LOL
The gentleman that sold it to me also had a the lifting rod I need to hook to the hydraulic system, so I should be good to go with it. I just need to remove the Woods mower, which I have no clue how to do, and then I can test the disc plow out. The disc turns nicely and the scraper has a nice tight tolerance, barely touching the disc through the entire rotation. The only thing that seemed to be missing was the chain's clevis, so I will need to go grab one of those at the hardware store. First I'm going to clean up around the bearing area and throw some grease in the zerk.
