Fast Hitch Helper Spring Question

Postby EarlyCub49 » Mon May 26, 2014 3:46 pm

I have been searching for instructions to install and adjust a helper spring on my cub but can't find anything in the manuals section and searching I got 32 pages for a fast hitch, can somebody help me. I also noticed that there must be a later fender left side with a reinforcement correct me if I am wrong again.

Yes, to your question on the fender reinforcement. Adjustment of helper spring tension varies by the implement being used. Does your Touch Control unit have the extra arm required for mounting the Fast Hitch helper spring? These photos from TM Tractor Parts should help to explain how the assembly is mounted.

Yes Don, I do have another shaft with the extra tang, I guess my question is how do you adjust the rod with the nut, it looks to me that it is to help lift the implement, does it really help to lift my discs I'm not sure if my discs are too heavy sometimes I need to throttle up to get them to lift, a couple of years ago I did do a pressure test and I thought it was around 800 PSI is that low or normal. No problem lifting my 194 but the discs is another story.

Thanks Bruce T.

Take the tension off the spring by rotating the rockshaft forward. Adjust the nut to the rear for more tension, forward for less.
GSS-1024 says pressure should not exceed 1500 psi. So, I'd say 800 is low.

Hi,
Here is a pic of the left fender reinforcement, they had them starting at serial number 185001, I guess. It is welded onto the fender. Hope you all had a good Memorial Day. :)

doesn't the rockshaft used with the helper spring have a bigger shaft, requiring different pillow blocks.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
