Re: PTO Question
You may want to consider a good quality sealed bearing. Last time I got a Case-IH bearing it was from China and unmarked. The sealed one off eBay was cheaper too. The snap ring version of the shaft should give you the right placement on the shaft. Worthwhile to replace the bushing while you have it apart too?

Re: PTO Question
That's what I'm hoping for. When everything is installed it all fits nicely and yes, I'm replacing the pilot bushing.
Thanks for the advice.

Re: PTO Question
Excellent, soon you will learn the ways of installing the PTO.... first time I did it, went right in, the second time had to leave it undone and walk away more than once.
The new shaft is worth it, if only to not have to stake the bearing! Like having a new Cub!

Re: PTO Question
Ok, seal is in. Bearing is on the PTO shaft and shaft is in the carrier. Easy-peasy.....now for the walking away part.
How In The Name Of All Things FarmAll does one get that springy, ring on that holds the grease cup in place?!?!?!?
It almost seems like there now isn't enough room for the cup and the ring.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: PTO Question
Patience and some small blade screwdrivers. And don't do it on a stone floor and wear safety glasses. Is the width of the bearing right?

Re: PTO Question
I assume you are talking the new bearing is the same width as the old bearing???
That would have been a good thing to check before I put it together....not sure, but that has crossed my mind.
I'll try it again.
Thanks

Re: PTO Question
Pretty sure it's just a 6205, usually the width is standard but can have different widths. How is your bearing marked? Or the package?
Just me, but I much prefer a sealed one, never touch it again (no grease or overgrease.). 6205-2RS from a good MFG. like SKF. There is ONE on ebay for $8.50 delivered. Same as common in snowmobile idler wheels, consider that abuse and they rarely fail.

Re: PTO Question
Well, it's all figured out put back together and everything seems to work.
All I had to do was reform the grease cup so it fit the new PTO shaft with the clipped on bearing instead of the staked on bearing.
I appreciate the advice about the sealed bearing and I had not already ordered, paid for and installed the open bearing I would have certainly taken that advice.
Thanks everyone!!
