This design was submitted by Ron Baker (midmo). It originated on another tractor forum. You need to add a bolt that threads into the front of the crankshaft and a hydraulic bottle jack to complete the setup.

I would recommend half inch steel. Mine is 3/4, and kind of heavy. Haven't seen any half inch ones, bend.

It is also beneficial to attach the jack to the crosspiece so that it is kept centered while pressure is applied to the bolt and pulley.

Re: How To Make a Crankshaft Pulley Puller
Please help me understand the difference between "Bar to Replace Pulley" and "bar to remove pulley" in the picture above. How is the "replace pulley" bar attached to help push the pulley on the crankshaft?

Re: How To Make a Crankshaft Pulley Puller
That is a good question and was wondering that myself.
Also, should one have 2-3 lengths of bolts to use as the center point to push against or will the all thread take care of that by being able to adjust the position of the jack as you pull the pulley off?

Re: How To Make a Crankshaft Pulley Puller
Thinking the bar to replace pulley was bolted to block with the holes use to mount the engine block to the bolster. Just a guess.
Someone with a bare block could measure the distance between holes, horizontal and diagonal measurements.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: How To Make a Crankshaft Pulley Puller
To replace the pulley on most engines a threaded rod is screwed into the crankshaft and using a pipe for a spacer with flat washers and nut the pulley is pressed on my turning the nut. Remember to oil the crank seal and crankshaft before installing the pulley.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
