Doug, I just googled and the replies suggest acetone or lacquer thinner. E85 gasoline is also suggested although several stated it didn't work.

Possibly hard to get and not as strong a solvent as the other stuff mentioned, but straight biodiesel (B100/B99) may work?? I have been using it to clean parts and bearings and flush the tranny lately. Makes the truck exhaust smell like fried clams, or donuts, or something else good fo eat.
Never tried their tank sealer, but pretty happy with their 'rust stop' system/paint on my truck frame. KBS coatings: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/tank-sealers.html Apparently the founders left POR-15??

Sounds like a stuck or dry pilot bushing (driveshaft still turns even with the clutch depresssed). Did you get a little gear grind when you first put it in gear? That might have broken it loose and solved your problem. If it does it again may have to get a little lube in there.Thackery wrote:.........
I had tried to push the clutch and engage the PTO before trying any gears, I could not get the PTO to engage, just wanted to grind.
So I figured that I would have to adjust the clutch, but after I got the pony tank on and decided to actually get moving everything about the clutch and
PTO seemed OK. Is that just because the clutch plates are sticky, or stiff, etc.

The active ingredients in carb cleaner are acetone, toluene and methyl alcohol. Xylene is another paint thinner that might work; its definitely nasty enough. Check around paint stores or industrial suppliers for these.
