Not really sure what you mean about "getting the throttle". Does the engine rpm's just not build when the throttle advances? Does the arm on the governor shaft have free range with the throttle rod disconnected? "not much slop", where is this loose motion? The cross shaft behind the radiator needs to have no free movement from wear. Have you checked the linkage and adjusted the connecting rod to the carb? Also check the clip on the top of the head that holds the throttle rod in alignment. Stan

1950 Cub, 1800 RPMs maximum.

Check the ignition timing and the ignition advance.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Does the throttle quadrant move anything on the carb when you change its position when its NOT running?

Yesthe rpm does not build up much only slight change when advancing throttle ..
yes gov. has free range..
the loose motion is in cross shaft from gov..
the clip on head is good but the rod does seem bent a bit much...and rod to carb isgood..

Re: loose motion in cross shaft, do a search or check the HOW TO FORUM for ways to remove the loose motion. Eleminating that will help your throttle control problem.
