I ordered a new clutch and pressure plate from TM Tractor and we installed it at the NE OK CubFest earlier this year. Thought if I was going to spend that much money, I'd might as well support a site sponsor.

I agree with Stanton. Yes, that's the time to adjust the clutch fingers and inspect everything else for wear.

Yes, but after it is bolted securely to the flywheel. Also, check the TOB and carrier while it is apart, and good luck!

I agree that site sponsors should be our parts providers. Too often, I see recommendations, to get parts at your auto parts store, or other places, often by "higher up" forum members. Both Hamilton Bob, and TM, are sponsors, and both provide fast, efficient service! We depend on this site, and they help provide it for us.

I use the site sponsors, but don't totally agree that you should get all your Cub parts from this site's sponsors.

Many Cub and Cub Cadet tune up and maintenance parts are in stock at auto parts store, daily including Saturday and Sunday. Couple of examples. Just purchased an oil filter for an F Cub from the parts store 1/4 mile down the street. In stock. In and out in 10 minutes. Same thing with ignition parts for the Cub and Cub Cadets.
I have an excuse. CRS.

To Dale what is the TOB and carrier I have it apart now and could examine before getting close to reassembly .I am familiar with how a clutch works in a car or truck it slides on the transmission and I know it is different on a cub or any farm all :help: :help:

TOB = Throw out bearing, the carrier is the housing/assembly that the TOB sits in.

They have a habit of wearing out at the pivot points.

Hi,
Check the throwout bearing holder's pivot points, the holes sometimes wear and are loose. The long pin at the top can wear near the ends and need replacing too.
The holder pivot points at the top have to be not worn so the holder does not move right to left, and the holes that hold the throwout bearing have to be not worn so the bearing is held in the right position. Also the bearing should be snug when it's assembled in the holder, and not flop up and down loosely.
TM Tractor has the new parts, here are pics you can look at. I don't know what year Cub you have, this is the newer style holder below. :)
