Hydraulic Pressure builds up

Postby Jason (IL) » Tue Oct 18, 2016 1:19 pm

My Cub has a hydraulic pressure issue, The pump will build up pressure and cause the tractor to come under a load and then stall. Basically I have gathered there is something not allowing pressure to release in the touch control, a check valve or safety valve is stuck? I have taken the unit apart and cleaned it, reassembled it and still have the problem.

Any tips, before I disassemble it all again and double check. The Touch control works, moves the hitch up and down. When I move the lever the tractor runs perfect, When the lever is held constant is when the pressure builds up. If that makes sense?

Thanks

Did you have this problem before you took the unit apart or only after? Does it load up with the lever in the middle or only at one/both ends?

If only at the ends, the stops for the lever need adjusting. If also in the middle, the pressure control valve isn't unloading.

Problem started during a parade, it happens at all positions.

Sounds like the pressure regulator valve isn't functioning. This is usually because of trash in the orifice and/or screen. You can get at them by removing a pipe plug in the Touch-Control head. Unscrew the plug then unscrew the orifice to clean it. Usually a plugged orifice causes the lift to not move at all, but it can do this as well.

You don't by chance have a bypass block for an auxiliary valve that has had plugs put in it rather than a by pass hose do you? It would be a block mounted between the hydraulic line block and the touch control unit.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

John, There is no by-pass block. I will get to work on the tractor this weekend I hope.
