Transmission Counter Shaft Bearing

Postby PoconoCub » Mon Mar 27, 2017 1:15 pm

After finally taking apart the transmission for my 57 Cub this is what is left of the Transmission Counter Shaft Bearing and the Transmission Spline Shaft Rear Needle Bearing:

bearings-800.jpg

I found the Transmission Counter Shaft Bearing and the Transmission Spline Shaft Rear Needle Bearing at Hamilton Bobs, the Transmission Counter Shaft Bearing I have found at several places for 85.00 to 95.00 which I just can't afford right now.

Barnyard had posted a Napa Crossover in a post http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=86207&p=687051&hilit=350857r91#p687051 which is 47.00 and if you search on Napa for 350857R91 that is the bearing it comes up with.

But Scrivet posted the sizes of the bearings:

Case IH parts site lists dimensions for 350857R91 as;
CYLINDRICAL ROLLER BEARING,1.4985" ID x 2.48" OD x 0.6299"

The Napa one from Barnyard's link list the size as 1.1811 x 2.4409 x 0.6299

The JD7558 one is 1.1811 x 2.4409 x 0.7874

I can get a WBMA1206EF for 11.00 which is the same as the Napa bearing, My question is has anyone tried using the Napa BRG MA1206UV bearing or the WJB WBMA1206EF Bearing and does it work without modification?

What does your shaft look like? That rear bearing rides directly on the shaft.

Actually the inside collar of the bearing slips onto the shaft, I am trying to get the collar off to see what the shaft looks like it's pretty rusted on there.

Unless I'm wrong, the needles in that top rear bearing ride on the shaft. There is no inner race. You may be looking at the cage. Be careful removing it.

Ah your talking about the Transmission Spline Shaft Rear Needle Bearing, thought you were talking about the Counter Shaft. Anyway the Transmission Spline Shaft looks good although I may replace it as I have a new one that I bought years ago and never installed.
