Cutting grass and pto lever kept popping out of gear. Disassenbled pto found pto lever engagement end worn down to allow clutch to uncouple.
I ground the end flat, tapped to 1/4 24 and screwed a 1/4 inch aircraft grade bolt into threaded hole with locktight on the threads.cut bolt to length
and staked the other side in four places after cutting flush, re installed shifter and pto assy and cutting grass again afer four hours of down time.I will order a new one and and a clutch to keep for a spare. The clutch did not have any wear noted. Thought this would be helpful, thanx,Tim

Re: pto pops out of gear
If you can weld/silver solder the bolt into the flat stock piece, there's probably no reason to order a new one ($$$). It may last a long time as it is.

Re: pto pops out of gear
I used a 3 inch bolt that had threads only on the last half inch of the bolt and torqued the bolt to 50 inch pounds with red threadlocker loctite. I believe it will last a long time, a grade 8 or better bolt.
