Steering shaft with worm gear

Postby wrz » Sun Jul 23, 2017 6:37 am

Purchased a 67 F Cub and it has the older steering shaft with worm gear ( shorter and it is painted red) which steers like it has the 24 tooth large gear. The parts catalog shows different steering shaft with worm gear that matches the 21 tooth and 24 tooth large gear. Is it possible that the the early steering shaft will work on the latter 24 tooth large gear? I can not see any welds on the shaft.

tst has said he shorted some shafts for customers. it is two seperate part numbers for the 21 tooth and 24 tooth. are you sure you have a 24 tooth gear in the steering housing? maybe the previois owner converted it back to get the shorter shaft.
