Tail lights orignal or not

Postby Command52 » Sat Dec 02, 2017 5:22 pm

I have been trying to find my answer but cannot come up with it. Are these the correct tail lights for this 1957 cub , It is mounted on the fender. The lens number looks like 77-276 . My fenders have I believe 3 holes drilled in them. I read on here the holes were for tail tight wire holders , Then I read that that the rear light is suppose to be mounted on the battery box, Does anyone have maybe a picture they could share of their set up or what I should have. Thanks Billy

Hi,
Below is a page from the 1955 Cub owner's manual, showing the rear light. They came with 3 flatback lights, up to serial number 210000, two on the front, one on the rear. The rear one was mounted on the battery box.
There was an extra cost combination rear light with tail light, it mounted on the battery box bracket too.
The light in your pic looks like one someone added to the Cub. Maybe Jim B. will comment about it.

Here are listings for the brackets at TM Tractor. The 1st one shows it mounted on the battery box.

Here is a listing for a new battery box, it shows the rear light bracket that is welded to the battery box. I don't know if you have that or not. :)

You've got aftermarket lights. The combination light Glen mentioned was an option and would have been the teardrop shaped light with a small red lamp mounted in the reflector of the rear work light. A switch on the light could change it between red and white.

Hi,
It looks like it is very close to the original light IH had.
Below is a pic from the 1955 Cub owner's manual showing the combination rear light. :)
