1948 Farmall Cub
Hello. My name Is Lynn (not a female), I am 67 years old and I too now own a 1948 IH Cub. At this time it is completely disassembled, except the engine, and being cleaned of grease and oil in preparation for sandblast of major castings. The engine is next on the list for tear down and rebuild. I want to put it back to factory condition as best I can other than the generator which will be replaced with an alternator. I already have many new parts and am now concentrating on the seals and bearings throughout. The poor thing showed many telltale signs of abuse and neglect. I hope to have it completed in time for the tractor show here near Winfield Kansas around August. However, locating seals and bearings has become quite the challenge. Steiner has some but their descriptions are sometimes a bit nebulous. When I do find the correct items the prices seem a bit on the over priced side. Hope I might just take them to a bearing retail distributor and let them do the cross reference thing. BTW. I just learned of this site from you tube. Nice to see so many other tractor enthusiasts out there. May need some help from you all.

Lynn, welcome to the group. You might take your seals and bearings to your local parts house to see if they can cross reference them.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Look at the sponsors listed at the bottom of this page. The TM Tractor web page has clear descriptions of their parts, very easy to know if you are looking at the right part.

Welcome Lynn!! Dale here in Chapel Hill, NC. (and I AM female!!) I get most of my seals and bearings from my local NAPA store. If they are unable to cross reference them, there is a list somewhere around here that has all those parts cross-referenced with a couple different brands.

Re: 1948 Farmall Cub
Welcome.
If the part is not common, I do the internet search, compiling a list of cross references. Take the list to the auto parts store.
I have an excellent, older counter guy, at the auto parts store. He will start searching using my cross reference list. Typically he will say that we have it under our part number. Can have it here tomorrow afternoon.
