Heavy Snow

We got about an inch of rain followed by 8-10" of heavy wet snow followed by another 5-6" of powder over the past couple days. After shearing the plow lift arm pivot pin on the LoBoy and snapping the winch lift cable on the quad, the 1948 Cub with the blade belly-mounted came to the rescue. It was able to scrape to the bottom and peel away the waterlogged stuff without pushing the tractor sideways like what was happening with the LoBoy. In fact, it did so effortlessly. I will keep this in mind for the future.

I picked up a piece of 5/8" steel round stock to replace the pin and will trim and loop the winch cable again on the quad. I knew there had to be a reason to keep three separate pieces of snow removal equipment around!

Wow! How did you shear the lift arm pivot pin? I can't imagine how enough force could be applied to shear that pin.

Yeah, that's pretty stout. Did you hit or snag the blade on something?

Glad to hear you had a backup with the regular F-Cub/belly blade setup. It's nice to get it done!

I didn't hit anything. It was not the original pin. Maybe it fatigued over time or was made from a higher carbon steel that was more brittle. I'll inspect the break point closer this evening and see if I can figure out why it failed.
