Hi Everybody!
My name is Wes Kinsler and I live in north central Oklahoma.
I bought a 1947 or 1949 Farmall Cub back in March, and ever since, I have made frequent visits to this site while searching for info, so it was about time I joined.
I say 1947 or 1949 because the serial number tag is hard to read and I can't tell if the number is 4 digits or 5. So far it has been a good little tractor, I bought it mainly to use as a riding lawn mower, and first used it to mow the show grounds for the 2022 Oklahoma Steam & Gas Engine Show in Pawnee.
I also own a 1956 Farmall 100 that I have had for 7 years now.
My friend Tom is responsible for me having both of these fine old tractors. Tom is known as the 'manuals guy' at our annual show and sold me the 100. Tom's neighbor had the Cub and when Tom found out it was for sale, he called me and I had the Cub a few days later.
And that is how I found my little Cub!
I look forward to getting to chat with all of you!

You can verify (with a fair amount of confidence!) what year your cub is by checking several of the casting dates on the major housings:
http://www.tmtractor.com/id/id_001.htm
There is also an engine serial number that will give you a very rough indication of year. It is on the left side of the engine block as shown in the above link.
WELCOME!

Thank you for the welcome!
The casting date info will be quite useful!
Here's a picture of the Cub with my daughter at the helm. I'm pretty sure this Cub has been repainted, I haven't seen Cub decals like these anywhere and am sure they must be 'aftermarket'! I still like the way they look though!

I could not say tractor when I was 2 years old so I called it Err Err.
I loved this tractor then and I still love it now. - Circle of Safety: Y

Thank you all for the welcomes!
I took a look at the date code on the engine, and it is 7 7 Q and the serial number is 344x and x is either a 1,2 or a 7. I will have to try cleaning the plate off a bit to see if that last digit can be deciphered. I believe this makes my Cub a 1947 , correct?

Welcome to the Forum, Wes! Glad you joined!
Take some time and read through a few threads to acquaint yourself with the Forum:
As Stan pointed out, you have access to the all the PDF Manuals on this site. There’s a few ways to do that:
You'll be able to download an Owner's Manual (very strongly recommended) and any service manuals that interest you. Implement Manuals are also available.
There are a lot of good threads dealing with Cub repair and maintenance in the How To Forum. Located here: http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=11
There are also casting dates on your cast iron pieces that you may cross reference here: http://www.tmtractor.com/id/id_001.htm And yes, you have a 1947, the first production year model.
We’d encourage you to take the Safety Test located in the Safety Forum: http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=68084
Thanks for posting the picture of your tractor. Feel free to post more of it and your 100.

As Stan pointed out, you have access to the all the PDF Manuals on this site. There’s a few ways to do that:
- From a desktop or laptop, go to "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals".
- You can also go to “Cub Info” in the upper toolbar, then hit “Rudi’s Manuals”. From there, you can access a variety of information.
- If you're using a phone, go to the "Links Directory" (second category down the main page). Once in "Links Directory" , scroll down to the second section "Tractor Parts & Manuals" and you'll find them there.
