Cultivator question?

Postby Daytona3759 » Fri Mar 29, 2024 6:44 am

Does anyone know what type of washer or backing plate is correct for attaching the sweeps to the shank? Is it a big square washer or an actual plate? Thanks for any help

I take it you are asking about the spring trip or friction trip shanks with an open back side. The original was a washer, 15/32 id, 1-1/2 od, 11 gauge. That is close to 1/8 thick. It isn't a standard size you find in a hardware store. I have used 7/16 fender washers with moderate success. They are too big od and only about half the original thickness.

Agri Supply or other farm stores carry them. Even at the substantial thickness, they will bend.
