Trailer size???
I want to know what size trailer I'll need a trailer to haul a Super A w/ 1000 loader. It also has front n 2 sets of rear weights and tires are filled w/ antifreeze... So what axle and length trailer would be best???

Re: Trailer size???
What do you intend to pull the trailer with? IMO a gooseneck trailer is more versitile and offers more safety options like duals/tandems, and greater weight hauling capabilities. If you just intend to use the trailer for the SA hauling, match or exceed the trailer weight capability with the load.

Re: Trailer size???
Just the SA and sometimes some logs for the sawmill. But the logs shouldn't weight more than the tractor. I also agree that a gooseneck trailer is better but my Ole Chevy 4x4 ain't set up for that. But it does have breaks, lights hookups n overload springs added to the rear.

Re: Trailer size???
A standard 16 foot dual axle utility trailer will haul that just fine. The tractor doesn't weigh over 4000 lbs so if it has 3500 lb axles you're good!

Re: Trailer size???
Class IV hitch, got 2in ball ATM but can put larger on if needed. I've been looking at 18 ft dual axle w/ 3500 lbs axles. Does that mean if hitch can handle it also is that a 7000 lb trailer or only 3500. As I stated I'll have a heavy SA (dual rear weights n tires filled) plus FEL & possibly implements. So it may be over 3500 lbs but under 5000lbs

Re: Trailer size???
that is a 7000lb trailer, one thing thats often overlooked is the ball rating, make sure the ball you use is rated for the weight of your trailer. my 18ft (16ft with a 2ft beavertail) is a 2" ball trailer.
better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...( YES this includes CUBS! )

Re: Trailer size???
Some of the 7,000 lb. trailers use a 2 5/16ths. ball , which is even better yet. My dump trailer is the big ball and I run 12,000lb loads on it with no problems.
You could get buy with a heavy 18' car hauler type trailer and your truck will do ok with it on a 2" ball as long as you have a good hitch on the truck! thanks; sonny

Re: Trailer size???
Another note is I have sometimes flipped the drop hitch upside down when talking trailers out into pastures as it gives you more clearance when loaded down and prevents it from the front of the trailer from digging in. Also makes it a little easier to load the tractor on to it

Re: Trailer size???
On the road though you really want the trailer setting level for even tire wear and the most stable towing.
I agree on the trailer size, though. Would not want any less than a 7000GVWR trailer.

Re: Trailer size???
This is just like mine, same make just newer. I have really enjoyed it. It'll haul a Super A with rear wheel weights and a Cub with rear wheel weights just fine.
