SA Hydraulic Control Valve Leak

Postby Brly » Mon Jan 14, 2019 9:02 pm

Hi Folks,

We've only had one snow storm that required plowing here, so the SA has been sitting in the garage for a while. About 3 weeks ago, it started leaking hydraulic fluid from the front of the touch control unit. Snow storm coming this weekend, so I need it fixed. I realize it likely would've been fine to use as-is, but I thought I'd at least try to stop the leak. I was able to get the offending control valve apart without removing anything else. Slid it out enough to get the o-ring out. Can someone confirm which o-ring I need to get? Also, there is another, smaller groove, behind this one. Is there supposed to be an o-ring there too? The groove on the left had the o-ring, the groove on the right did not.

Thanks,
Ben

Jumped the gun a little. From the exploded view, it looks like there is only one o-ring. Number 31, ring, seal, control valve. Part Number 350672R1. O-RING,0.482" ID x 0.153" Width. A confirmation would still be nice. I'm also assuming that this is the source of the leak. Could it be something else?
I'll probably rebuild the whole unit at some point, just need to keep it going for now.

I'm pretty sure it is the same as the cub TC Control Valve, with only the one o-ring...the other groove, I believe, is empty. This photo of a TC I rebuilt a bunch of years ago, only shows the second groove, but it has no o-ring.

This is from the SA Parts Manual.

#31 in the figure is an o-ring, and the only one listed for the control valve #34:

Thanks Dale. I'll order the o-ring and see if it does the trick!

make sure the dust boot is on it, it keeps the dirt out of the valve so the oring does not go bad

Will do. The boots is in usable shape. I'll make sure it goes back on correctly.
