Narrow rows with A?

Postby Sod Buster Mn87 » Mon Feb 18, 2019 2:44 am

How easily would an A handle 20" or 24" rows in a garden?
Thanks
Sod Buster

Wheels spacing will determine row widths.

Won't do one row at a time. You may be able to set the wheel spacing to do 2 rows but if using a cultivator, you would have to make major changes. A is really a bit big unless your garden is acres big. Cub is too big in most gardens. thanks; sonny

. Thanks, I seen one on CL got me thinking again. My garden is 75x125 but I got all the room in the world on the ends. I thought maybe I could set up a toolbar and cultivate multiple rows at a pass.

Depends on exactly what you want to do but easy, probably a lot easier with a Super A or Cub. There are a lot more implements available.

Most of these old threads are in the context of a Cub. But most applies directly to an A. Follow the links in this thread to more discussion and pictures.

Set the wheels on 44" and you can straddle two 22" rows. 20" should work ok too.
If you try to cultivate two at a time, remember you have to be sure your rows are exactly 22" apart. Otherwise you'll have a lot of cultivator blight.
