Farming w/ a 1950 SA

Postby BullDAWG » Wed Jun 05, 2019 2:27 pm

Hi ya'll, I'm new to here but not to Farmalls or to farming. I just wanted to say hi and that I know a decent amount about old equipment and keeping em running. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I'll show my crops, my 1950 SA, A-295 2 bottom slat wing 2 bottom plow, and my 1950 cub.

I also built a 2" toolbar that mounted to the 144 rear cultavator bar and will post a topic on it soon (again need to get pics working LOL) but plans for it include putting 2 middle busters on it to make raised beds and some subsoilers. Might be good topic for those that use farmalls to actually FARM :)

I’d love to see pictures of the rear toolbar setup as I have a plan to use my 140s to try to grow either sunflowers / or melons.

I wouldn’t call it farming, but I use my 140 to cultivate my half acre garden. I have a two bottom plow and disc on a fast hitch that work quite nicely. If it didn’t seem like such a pain to mount and unmount cultivators I would pick up a set of those too

I have a A-295 2 bottom plow (connects to draw bar) and takes 30 minutes to remove and put on 144 cultavators. Not hard, n with fast hitch yours should be easier.

PS will post pics of toolbar in a new thread, but trying to work some bugs out atm, the 144 has trip springs so down pressure isn't sufficient to go deep w/ subsoiler.
