Turning regular 140 into HC

Postby heartbeetsfarm » Sat Oct 23, 2021 8:21 pm

Evening,

Love my 140 and super A, but I need more clearance for some last passes on Potatoes. Is there an easy way to give me more clearance? Easy wheel change (bigger rims from some other tractor)? Anything?

Thanks.

Someone on here had a high crop a for sale not too long ago, think it was Stanton, but do not quote me on that.

Thats interesting that you need more clearance!

I do potatoes with my fast hitch cub. Cultivating, hilling, and harvest.

Yes, it was me. It was a regular AV, no hydraulics. The regular gearing combined with the larger wheels makes for some speedy travel.

We plant a lot of stuff on plastic beds, including our potatoes. That gives us a 4" bed, but also takes soil away from the wheel track. Takes away a full 6" of clearance, which makes a difference between getting a last pass and not.

I totally didn't think about the faster speeds. Something to think on.

I would have to go at low idle in 1st gear, and that might be faster than you need. Never had this thing higher than 2nd.
