Snow blade sway

Noticed this with both the A60 on the 100 and the L54 on the Cub how when you start there is some twisting motion on the frame of the blade. I'm sure this is normal for how it is constructed. But was just wondering if there was a way to stiffen this up some what. Not opposed to modifying the blade frames as I've already have power angle and they are trip blades.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Raise the blade and feel if all of the pivot points have some wiggle to them, the steel or pins might be worn down. It would mean you need to replace pins or drill out the holes and make some bushings for the pivots. I like to oil mine each time I push snow. It probably doesn't do much but it will still help to cut the friction.

I don't know about removing all of the slop but I'm sure it could be lessened but I don't know if it would be worth the effort. When I made my power angle, I drilled the pin holes in my fabricated mounts for the cylinder 1/16" oversized. My thought was to not capture the cylinder with ridgid mounts when the rest of the frame would be moving and twisting around while I plow snow. I assumed that would relieve the yokes on the cylinder from binding and possibly breaking them off of the cylinder.

I had the same thoughts about all the looseness. I switched the frame to body supports and that steadied the base structure. But after the recent storm I have come to accept and understand that everything wiggles and wobbles a bit...and that is okay. My plow rig on the super c is the same. I think too tight breaks things.

I agree that you want a little slop. Otherwise every bump or snag on the blade is directly transferred back to the tractor in a significant shock load which can and will break castings.

They're calling for 2" more today and my school just called off so get to go play some more this afternoon.
