I’ve been finally trying to find some uses for my 41 A. It runs so flawlessly I need to exercise it. I quit procrastinating and got a sow plow 90% done and didn’t even need it once this year. I just picked up a single bottom plow for it and figure I’d give it a go. The cross shaft at the back was rusted tight so I drilled for a grease fitting and kept beating it and lubing it to get it free. It didn’t come with a coulter and understand that may not be that big of a deal. There is part of a bracket for it but I’m not sure what it all comprises of . I previously got a plow for a super A and thought of rigging something up but gave up. It has a coulter I could always remove and adapt it. I’d have to drill some holes for placement. I already had the drawbar assembly as it came with the tractor. It is not the one with the spring dampening assembly. I’ve seen both styles and would imagine the dampened one is preferable. Here’s a pic the plow and the drawbar with the angle lever sssembly, I had taken it off the tractor when I set up the sow plow. I had also taken off a the cultivator lift assembly too. I’ll add another pic of the plow draw bar assembly on the tractor when I got it. I know I’ll have to remove the rear draw bar for plowing. Any suggestions would be helpful as I’ve never plowed dirt before.
Thanks Z

Re: Bottom plow for my 41 A
I pulled all the snow plow stuff off today and hooked up the single bottom plow. Don’t really see how I can screw that up. I’ve got to get some proper pins and should be ready to go. Here’s some pics. If for some reason I’ve made a mistake in mounting please feel free to point it out.

I'm no expert in implements, but it looks great. Good looking machine for 83.

For everything I can see in the pictures, the installation looks correct. Here is one bit of a warning. When you are raising the plow, do not get any of yourself other than your right arm directly behind the lift lever! If you happen to hit a rock with the plow while trying to lift, that lever will come flying back and can do some serious damage to anything it hits.

I'm in Madison, not that far from you, and am willing to come to help you get started plowing. My first suggestion is to take a right angle grinder with a wire cup brush and remove as much rust as you can from the share. moldboard, and landslide. This will save a lot of time shining those surfaces when starting to plow.

Re: Bottom plow for my 41 A
Thanks for the replies guys. I did play with it the other day to get a feel for how the different settings go. As you can imagine my first go was rather lackluster. After changing the angle to get the point to dig in and playing with the pitch things were rolling. The dirt was sticking a bit from the rusty surface so I will do as Bill suggested and clean it up. I think Jim must be psychic as a tree root stopped me but there were no miss haps with the lift lever thankfully. I also appreciate your offer Bill to come down and help me get things going properly. I’ll shoot you a PM with my number and if nothing else pick your brain over the phone.
Thanks Z
