On my Super A-1, when we checked compression on it, every cylinder was 90-110 pounds, IIRC one was close to 125. However the plugs were oily and it was missing badly. I got a chance to visit the new Tractor Supply Store in my area today and while there I picked up a new set of plugs for it, and just put them in. The miss is gone now. I am confused about what would be causing so much oil fouling, with compression that good? Only thing that sticks out in my mind is valve guides. What else should I look for?
TIA

Re: Oil Fouling plugs question-Super A-1
As you mentioned, valve guides can cause oil burning, but badly worn or broken rings will oil seal giving good compression tests, but not hold the pressure when the cylinders fire. Had that on a 6 cylinder pickup several years ago. It was getting about 80 miles to a quart of oil, but compression checked good.

Try Seafoam in the fuel and engine oil. May help free up stuck piston rings. May not help. Might make the problem worse. Probably time for an engine overhaul.

Yeah, the need of an overhaul is a given. It has low oil pressure, and a light knock when warmed up. The high compression readings threw me. I wasn't expecting that given the other symptoms already present.
